Sila Nzioka Tulani (Born April 19th 1994) is a Kenyan American Singer, Songwriter, Actor and Activist. Named one of Chicago's most prolific performers by the Chicago Tribune, Tulani won a Chicago Music Award for "Best African/ Afrobeat Entertainer", and has been nominated twice for the same category. Tulani has toured Nationally and internationally, both solo and alongside Major acts such as Wyclef Jean, Jay Electronica, Curren$y, Skip Marley, GLC and Lion Babe. Chai Tulani has also been cast in several commercials including BET's Black Girls Rock Commercial staring Taraji P. Henson
Tulani was born in Nakuru, Kenya the son of Lydia Mutua a food scientist and highschool Biology teacher from Kenya and Jaote Wawatu a high school Chemistry teacher from Chicago. He grew up on Chicago's far south side and south suburbs. He is the oldest of 3 children. Tulani attended Our Lady of the gardens in Altgeld Gardens and Homewood Flossmoor Highschool.
